I 1920 Alabama, the Corbin family had a beautiful healthy baby boy, or so they thought. Petey Corbin did not act or seem like the other babies. Petey was thought to be very feeble minded, When he actually had a condition of cerebral palsy. At the age of two Petey is sent to a insane Asylum in Montana, where Petey feels alone, and isolated because he has no friends. While at the hospital, Petey makes friends with many workers, and other kids, but all leave. But then Petey meets a new friend, named Calvin, and they instantly become best friends. After a while Petey and Calvin get transferred to different nursing homes and don't here from each other again.
months later Petey is being picked on by bullies, when his new neighbor down the road, helps him, and they become friends. But this new friend makes a promise to make Petey's life better, by buying him a new wheelchair, and finding Calvin. But can Petey's new friend make his promise come true?
